Where to Soak in the Sun in Pennsylvania

While we love the comfort of our own homes, we are excited to finally get some Vitamin D in Pennsylvania. The temperature is warm, the water is cold, and the sun is shining, which means it’s time to put on your flip flops and get outside. Many restrictions have been lifted in PA, but we still are encouraging our homeowners to social distance and wear masks while in these parks.

Colton Point State Park
Where: 927 Colton Road, Wellsboro, PA 16901 (Directions)
Open: Sunrise to Sunset
Colton Point State Park is known for its rustic charm dating back to the Civilian Conservation Corps circa the 1930s. This translates not only from the park but the Campground as well. Campers have access to beautiful views of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and Falls. With a stream running down the center of the park, you’ll want to catch a glimpse of every angle. Get a birds-eye view of the modern-day Pine Creek that is over 600 feet below the overlook and make sure to bring your binoculars to see ravens and bald eagles! You might even spot a turkey. The park is a trailhead that connects plenty of trails to hike and bike through. Colton Point also has access for people with disabilities so anyone can come! For more information on your trip, download their Recreations Guide.

Presque Isle State Park
Where: 301 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505-2042

You don’t have to travel outside of the state for the beach! Pennsylvania’s “seashore” is a 3,200-acre sandy peninsula that leads into Lake Erie. This is about as close as you can get to a real beach in PA. Spend the day sunbathing, swimming, fishing, and more. You can even scuba dive in designated areas! Presque Isle is a national landmark known for the migrating birds. Since it has diverse habitats, this park has a huge number of endangered species than any other park in Pennsylvania. Choose from 17 trails to hike, each with different levels of difficulty. The Fox Trail is our favorite! Check out their Recreational Guide!
